How To Calibrate iPhone Motion Sensor

If you have been getting inaccurate motion readings with pedometer apps, health app or any app for that matter then calibrating the iPhone motion sensor may solve the problem. Watch the video below for the calibration tutorial and follow the instructions for more methods to fix these issues.

Calibrate The iPhone Motion Sensor

  • Close all open apps
  • Open the compass application
  • Follow the calibration steps (completing the circle)

If done correctly, you have calibrated the iPhones motion sensor. If this doesn’t fix your problem you can try some of these other options.

iPhone Calibration Method #2

  • Open the Settings application
  • Tap “Privacy”
  • Tap “Location Services”
  • Scroll all the way down and tap “System Services”
  • Turn “Motion Calibration & Distance” off, then turn it on again

Other iPhone Calibration Methods

  • Download an app that uses the iPhone motion sensor and search for a setting within it that calibrates the iPhone.
  • Perform a hard reset of the phone (Hard reset iPhone)
  • Backup and restore your iPhone

These methods are all going to be trial and error. I compiled these methods from forums and from users “claiming” that they worked. Hopefully one of these calibration methods will do the trick for your iPhone. If any one of the methods works for you, please post your results in the comments below.
