Apples new flagships Phone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are upgrades to last years model. Although the S lineup usually are just smaller upgrades this year we are seeing a little bit more. The main things that changed are the camera and the new 3D Touch feature.
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus iSight Camera Update
The camera on the new iPhones has been upgraded to a 12 megapixel iSight camera. This is huge as apple has been running with the 8 megapixel camera for a few years now. This is going to give you extremely clear photos and could possibly be the best smartphone camera out right now. As for video quality, you can now shoot 4K video with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
The front facing camera has also been upgraded to a 5 megapixel camera with a screen flash. This means that the screen with flash a very bright white towards you giving you a brighter, clearer selfie.
3D Touch On The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
3D Touch is Apples new force touch feature that allows you to use pressure to access extra features. This feature will allow you to be quicker with the phone, add new settings to apps and give you quick looks at various things.
What Else Is New With The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S?
The updated iPhones are made of a stronger 7000 series aluminum that should prevent any bending and also a stronger glass. You can now purchase the new iPhones in a rose gold colour as well as the standard colours.
The iPhone 6 and 6s Plus have also received a spec bump with the new A9 chip with built in M9 coprocessor. This will give you 70% faster GPU performance and 90% faster graphic performance. It is also more energy efficient at the same time.
As for data speeds the LTE has been bumped up and wifi is two times faster then the previous iPhone models.
Should You Upgrade To The iPhone 6s Or 6s Plus?
For people running an iPhone 5c, 5, 4s or below, it would be a great time to upgrade. You most likely are off contract right now and will notice the biggest gains from the update. Speed and size will be the biggest changes for you and if you are running an older device then the 4s, you wont be able to use iOS 9.
iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus users it is kind of bitter sweet. Chances are you still have some time on your plans, you do have a very capable phone but you wont have the upgraded camera or 3D Touch technology of the new generation iPhones. I would say for iPhone 5s users, if you are off contract to update but if you still have time, then wait for the next iPhone model. For iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users, it’s best to wait. The update is not big enough at this point to justify paying a plan penalty to update.
