Updating your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch is the best way to keep everything on your device running smooth. It also helps you avoid errors and possible security risks. Although the process today is easier then ever it is still very important that you follow a few steps to ensure your update has the best chance of being successful

  1. Clear unused apps.
    Deleting unused apps will free up space on your iOS device. iOS 9 Should be a smaller update then iOS 8 but having the extra space will ensure you can download the new operating system without issues.
  2. Delete or transfer pictures/videos
    Once again this has to do with freeing up space on your iOS device. Photos and videos can take up a lot of space. You can transfer the files to your computer, to the cloud or just delete the ones you don’t need.
  3. Backup Your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
    This is probably the most important part of the process. Without backing up your iOS device you run the risk of losing everything. If something were to go wrong during the update you would lose your contact list, pictures, emails and everything you had stored on your device. You can back it up to the cloud or iTunes.

If you have successfully freed up space and backed up your device you are now ready to update to iOS 9. Below is two ways you can update to iOS 9.
